Stěžery lies in the Hradec Králové District. It was first recorded in 1229. The village has an Empire-style Church of St Mark, built in 1832.

The castle in Stěžery developed from a Renaissance fortress through alterations in 1802–1803. It now belongs to the municipality of Stěžery.
